Oil pressure gauge

Hi guys,

What is the best way to check if the oil pressure gauge is working. As you might of guessed, mine is not moving when starting the car.

One thing you can do to give yourself piece of mind is install a real mechanical oil pressure gauge. Have you checked the gauge to see if it works properly? If you ground the wire at the oil pressure switch, the gauge should read full scale.

I have now grounded the cable going to the oil pressure switch. The gauge dosn't move.
What puzzles me is that the power going to the gauge is pulsating 5 volts. Is it suppose to be pulsating or is it suppose to be a steady flow?
Anyway, since the gouge dosn't move at all i guess it's broken.

It's true that the power to the gauge is a pulsing 5 volts, but the gauge needle is damped so that you don't see the needle jumping up and down. Sounds like you need to replace the gauge. I have some if you need my help.

I’ve checked and double checked the gauge and the voltage on the dash. I’m sure the gauge is broken and needs to be replaced.

I bought my 65 convertible from a guy living in Marion Texas. Paint, interior, trim and engine room was very nice but there where lots of small things to do on the electrical side.

Most of it is now fixed.

It would be great to get an oil pressure gauge from you.
