Clutch Fan?

I have a 66 non a/c with the non a/c fan. I am going to get the radiator checked and cleaned or replace it. On a 90 degee day sitting in traffic the temp starts to rise a little to much. I have a a/c fan clutch off a 66 is there any reason not to put it on mine? Seems it would be a cooling up grade.

My thought would that the fan with no fan clutch would be pushing air all the time whereas the one with the fan clutch would not. So, why would you want to add a fan clutch? Something else to go bad?

I thought while driving on the highway the air was naturaly comeing thru the radiator and that helps cool the engine so the fan with the clutch doesn't turn as much when you don't need it. ( should help a little with gas milage) While sitting in traffic it gets hotter and and the fan engages completly when you need it, So with the extra blade it should pull more air while sitting still. What is the life of the clutching fan? I thought thats why ford added them to the a/c cars to pull more air at idle because of the condenser in the front of the core. I'm assuming all this am i wrong somewhere
