Where has everyone gone ?

There used to be lots of posts on this site.. Has everyone got their cars all fixed and have no more questions? Someone asked me, the other day, about what fluid to use in the Hiway Pilot servo.. Anyone know this answer? Also had a fellow asking about his air conditioning.. He was about ready to replace the expansion valve per the shop manual.. I told him that it was NOT necessary to remove the dash per the instructions.. No, folks.. Remove the driver's seat and LH lower dash panel. Spend two hours instead of ten.. Bring on the questions.. You know answers are out there waiting..

You asked for it Harley. I see there is a early and later brake booster for the 66 model year. I have an early 66 which looks to have the later style booster. Would this tend to give me a lower pedal that is some what spongey or don't it matter? Yes the brakes are bled and adjusted.
Thanks

That's good to know. My '65 has a bad expansion valve, which I'm hoping to address once I get the car back on the road. I was quite shocked the first time I read the factory shop manual's instructions on getting to the expansion valve. I had already tangled with the dash once before, when I replaced my instrument voltage regulator, so I was already exposed to the dash's complexity. Between the two tasks, I'm convinced Ford had Rube Goldberg design the '64-'66 dash assembly.

Early or late brake booster

I don't think the early vs. the late brake booster will have any effect on the performance of the brakes. Nor should it effect the brake pedal height or firmness.

Harley,

Glad to see you're still active and on this site. I haven't logged on in over 4 months because not much was going on here. Now that a lot of Birds are in the garage for winter storage, postings appear to be on the upswing.

Keep on dispensing wisdom and we'll keep on taking it in!

Mike J.
