Fuel Guage problems

I put a new sender in my 66 a few weeks ago and got everything working perfect. Correct reading, Low fuel light coming on at the right time. Today i start the car and the guage reads empty and the light is on steady with the tank full. Looks like the sender and the low fuel Thermister are two seperate operations in the book. Do they both work off the same relay and were is the relay or relays? Was wondering why both things would malfunction at the same tme?

Boaterbob,
I just had a new sender installed in my '65. Everything worked great until I filled the tank. The low fuel light went on then off. I called the mechanic and he told me the fuel gauge was bad. I jacked the car up and found the he installed the 3 prong plug on the sender backwards (plus he jammed it on). I removed it, cleaned the contacts with fine sandpaper, put dialectric grease on them and reinstalled it. It hasn't given me a problem since. Hope this helps... Mike
