64-66 Transmission questions
Last night I was driving my 64 Bird into a cruise night, and smoke started billowing out of the tail pipes. A fellow cruiser diagnosed the problem as the modulator going bad which sucked tranny fluid into the motor. I disconnected the vacuum line so I could drive it home. Is this something common? or is it something that was a fluke?
Next question is about my 66 Bird which I just purchased. Currently when starting, it takes about 2-3 minutes before it moves forward, though it goes into reverse immediately. Once it "pumps up" it is good for the rest of the day. I was told it is an internal seal which has gone bad and draining back or not holding pressure. Does anyone know anything about this, could it be a seal which is accessable by removing the valve body? or is it a remove and rebuild proposition? Thanks.......... Swi66 |
