Unhappy 65 hardtop start problem

hello there, i have recently purchased a 1965 tbird. I also bought a shop manual but it has yet to arrive and i dont like waiting around so i figured i'd see if anyone in here will be able to help me with my problem. :: When i try to start my tbird using the key, nothing happens except i hear a **PING** (sounds like a relay kinda). I am able to turn the key to ON and start it off the starter solenoid. Its a brand new starter solenoid and a brand new ignition switch. could anyone give me any suggestions as to what else it may be.

thanks a bunch! :cheers

starting problem

If you can go across the starter relay and the engine cranks it would seem that you have a bad relay -- I have found some after market relays to be defective. If you replace it and still have the problem ck. to see if you are getting voltage to the relay when you turn the ign switch to start If you have no voltage go across the neutral start switch with a jumper. If you get voltage now at the starter relay the neutral start switch is bad or out of adjustment

I'm sure you checked to see if if all connections were cleaned and wires put back exactly where they came from.

More than likely the "PING" you hear is the window safety relay. If you have power windows! Relay (if present) is located center fiewall, engine side.
