Seat Belt Light

I have the 66 with the seat belt light in the belt. Has anyone ever disabled that system and put in the Bi Metel Switch or just put in the Bimetel switch in tandem? I never looked at the Seat belt switch. Is it a Ground that makes contact or a hot lead?

Seat belt light

The ground for the light system is in the seat belt retractor.
