Electric windows

I have a 65 thunderbird with electric windows. Everytime I put them up too high they jam and I have to remove the door panel to release the motor. Is there any way to fix this, like a stop or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Happy New Year!

First, I would say "don't jam them to the top". Another thing that may help or may solve the problem is to replace the window lift gears - the plastic ones. You can also - maybe instead - add a cut-off switch in the window lift circuit that would shut off electric power before the window goes too high. (This I've done before.)

Thanks Harley. How did you install the cut-off switch and what kind was it?

I put a micro switch in the "UP" window circuit to cut off the electricity and it was activated by a arm attached to the window such that when the window got to a certain point, the switch was activated and the power to the window was cut off.

Great Harley! I'll give it a try. It beats taking off the door panel every other week. Thanks again and have a Happy New Year !!
