Starting problem

My 65 coupe has a new battery with a full charge yet when I try to start it all I get is a loud "click". It may be the starter relay but I put in a new one last spring and evrything was fine until last week when I replaced the rear bumper and had to unhook the lights. Is there any relationship to something I may have done wrong with the tail lights or is it likely to be the relay again? How can I test the relay swith before I order a new one?
Final question: Does everyone hate electrical problems as much as I do?!

I've had to replace the starter relay (I always called it a starter solenoid) on my girlfreind's 64 falcon convertible something like 4 times in the last 5 years. I'll assume they just don't make 'em like they used to and leave it at that...

hard starting

Take a pair of pliers with naked grip handles and go across the solenoid poles -- if the engine turns over the solenoid is bad.

What you should do is: Use an ammeter to determine if and how many amps are going to the starter. If the starter is bad or locked up, you may see excessive draw.
Have you determined that the "click" is coming from the starter relay?

Turned out to be the starter so I replaced it. This is no easy task, by the way. Unless you have a lot of patience and time, let someone else do it for you....well worth the cost!
