Question Brake Pedal Sticks

When I brake, the pedal on my '64 usually sticks, and I either have to pull the pedal up with my foot, or it will eventually come up if I hit the gas. I know the brakes are tricky on these cars. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Sounds like either your booster (probably) or your master (maybe). Might as well do 'em both, it'll take an afternoon and $150 or so bucks. Napa carries the parts. You'll feel much better about yourself afterwards...

Just got done with the same problem, be sure and check the vacuum diaphragm unit on the transmission. On my 64 it's connected to the check valve on top of the booster and when it failed the booster started sucking small amounts of transmission fluid into it which caused it to fail. The diaphragm unit is only about $20 and it would be good insurance to replace it also. Kim

It may be more simple than it seems. I had a similar problem and found that the vacuum hoses had worked their way loose from the booster and were allowing air to escape. Simply pushed them back in place, tightened the clamps and everything worked after that.
