Seats, Leather or Vinyl?

I am having my seats from my 65 redone. The trim code on the door plate is 39. Thunderbird headquarters says that that sode means Palamino leather. I am very sure that these seats are original to the car, but they are not leather. Not leather anywhere. I bought the car in 1976 from the original owner, and Italked to him on the phone, and he says that the seats had never been replaced by him.

Could the dealer have changed these out? The car was bought in S California. I guess I have the original dealer's name. If I look.

If they were supposed to be leather, would the rear seat area also be leather?

i am restoring the car to as near original as I can, so I would like to get this one right. I would hate to lose points at a show because I can't win the arguement with the judge over vinyl or Leather. Although in this case I could make either arguement.

Any ideas?

If you are concerned about judging, you should restore the car per the data plate or change the data plate. How else could a judge know whether the car came with leather or vinyl? The front and rear seats should be the same material.
