Ticking Sound

Got this ticking sound coming from the drivers side that only happens only when I accelerate while driving. It sounds like the tick you get when doughnut gasket on the exhaust is leaking. Had the motor rebuilt a few weeks ago and they milled the exhaust manifolds and put on new gaskets, today I checked and replaced the doughnut gaskets on the exhaust. When I checked the old ones there wasn’t any indication of blow by. When the car is in park and I rev the motor the ticking isn’t there. Any ideas?? Valves? Death rays from outer space?? It’s not a rock in the hubcap either

It can be one of the hydraulic vale lifters. They some times dont operate the way the`re suposted to because of dirt in the valeve seat or on the vale it self. I had the same problem on my 66. Running it on high milage oil for a wile fiksed it.
The hard way is to take them out and clean them one by one.

Had the same problem with my 65. Check around exhaust manifold while still cool and running. Look for signs of leakage at manifold gasket.

ticking sound

It is probably a exhaust manifold leak. I had the same noise once and that's what is was. Only did it on acceleration.
