Temprature ?

I know after you shut a engine down the temp. rises a little before it goes down. My 66 will rise to about 3/4 on the gauge when i restsrat after about 15 min., Then go down to normal in a couple of min.. Is this considered normal? I used to operate diesel trucks and they claimed they should be idled for 3 min. before shut down so this woudn't happen.

Mine doesn't quite jump to 3/4 in that situation, but definitely goes up over the 1/2 way mark.
