Exhaust Manifolds on 66 390cu

Exhaust Manifold..

Has anyone out there had any success welding
a hairline crack on an exhaust manifold?
Also, will a manifold off a 352 ford motor fit
a 390 (66 tbird)?
Looking to replace proper studs in manifolds.
Local fastener, and ford dealer do not carry proper
studs, any advice would be much 'preciated.

...........Thanx Mike. (sixtsix)

You didn't say which side has the exhaust manifold crack. The 66 Bird 390 has a heat riser on the passenger side . The heat riser requires a flat surface to bolt to the passenger exhaust manifold. 62-65 Birds did not have the heat riser so they will not work. As far as 352 manifold working , maybe , if it had a heat riser but are exhaust pipe / donut sizes right? Best to get manifold offen a 66 -390 Cu In. then you know it's right.

P.S. Welding manifold is a iffy proposition. It depends if welder is really experienced and iffy because there is so much heat in this exhaust ( contraction/expansion) cast iron welds just don't hold up. Click for Port Orange, Florida Forecast

...thanx for your opinions, very much 'preciated. Talking
to a couple local welders, their answers were along the
same opinion. I wil continue searching for a replacement.

Thanx for the info.....you may have saved me money
purchasing an incompatible replacement. I will take your advice and look for an original. 'Preciate it.
