Yes you have to raise it a couple inches. Then rotate the crankshaft so the Counter Weights are in the correct to let the pan drop down as far as possible. Then you could get at the bolts.

I am paying someone to fix mine. That oil pump issue seems too much for me to handle. My pump is dead, some say the shaft could be gone also.

Oil pump driveshafts are too inexpensive to not replace when you have the pan down..
