expansion tanks

I have a 66...428 with an expansion tank that is leaking. It is leaking in the seams where the two halves connect so I cannot trade it in on a used one for it isn't worth much.

I had it repaired for $25 which was cheap but now it is leaking on another corner and I can see where this is going... New ones cost around $200...but someone told me that they do not look the same. I might not have a choice so I don't have to play the repairing the tank...how different do the new ones look? No ribs? jim

no problem on the expansion tank

I went ahead and purchased one anyhow and going through my favorite T-Bird parts house... Bird Nest I received it overnight.

The expansion tank looks almost the same. The only difference is that the fill cap is on the passenger side rather then the driver side, plus the overflow hose. Other then that, it looks just about the same. I think I made a good decision even though it was $200... Well worth it...jim

that should last you quite a while - good luck and replace the thermostat when you install it.

Jim, they sure get a good price for those tanks, seems like the filler hole is on the drivers side on some and on the passenger side on others, On my 66 that i bought new it's on the passenger side. Fortunately it's still in good shape.

I have found The Bird Nest in port. to be a very nice bunch of guys, I do my business with them.
