Post 56 front brake drums

I recently discovered that my brake drums could no longer be turned because they were over the limit. I really am not too happy about paying for brand new drums. If anyone has any used ones, or knows of some new ones for a decent price, your help would be welcomed.

I recently overheard a discussion about getting a set of new linings welded inside the existing brake drums, and then they were turned down to specs. This was for a 1933 Auburn, where parts are not to be had anymore, or outrageously expensive, if you can find them. Maybe there is some brake shop locally that you can get to do the same thing for you. Check around, or maybe someone on this forum has a lead, or more info on what I'm referring to. Hope you get an answer, because I'm sure we'll all be facing the same problem some day!

The front and rear drums for 55/56 T-Bird are the same as 55/56 passenger cars. Many wrecking yards have good used available, and many advertise in various car collector publications. You might try Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno, CA.
