Thermostat

My "55 Bird runs hot!! (as most do). I am wondering if the car would run cooler without a thermostat, (not destroying anything) or is there reason, other than warming up the car faster for the thermo??

Hey there - Do not run the car without a thermostat, it actually has the function of slowing the coolant flow down to keep it in the radiator longer to enhance and aid in the cooling. You need a certain level of heat to help keep the deposits from forming and potetially plugging up the system. I would source a cooler thermostat, like a 160 degree should help. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I got into the job and found that there was NO thermostat in the car. I will get a 160 degree and put it in.
Thanks again
