radiator change

Hi, I wanted to report about our success with the heating problem. This weekend we changed out the radiator for the US optima 4 row. and at the same time went to the full lower shroud which is square at the radiator and round at the fan.

Also set the timing from 4btdc to 8btdc.

checked the vacuum advance function with the timing light.rechecked the heatriser valve.

we refilled with one jug antifreez and 1qt water wetter. the balance water.

the result was that our car now runs at 160-170 on the stewart warner guage and about at 1/3 on the dash. when you get to a stop after freeway cruising it goes up about 15 degrees but slowly recovers. this is in 95 degrees ambient.my wife would feel comfortable taking "peacock" anywhere now!!!

we are very pleased with the result as the cabin is much cooler, there is no overheating or blowover, and much less expansion space needed in the tank.

by the way you can buy direct from US Radiator and pick it up in LA and save $100.

The timing correction made a huge difference on the cars performance. my wife was not very happy about the accekeration on the car since she is used to driving her 68 cougar. now with the timing correction she is very pleased.

Has anyone tried further timing advances and high test fuel or other successful combination that you would recommend.

Thanks for being here frankie and Rita
