'55 rear brake shoes
I have replaced the front brake shoes and now am ready to tackle the rear. My question is, am I going to find any surprises when attempting this repair? How do I remove the drum from the axle?, and will I have any issues with the emergency brake? These probably sound like elementary questions but I have never attempted rear brake shoes!

Ford brakes were the same for about 15 years ('49-'63). If you back off the adjustment using the star wheel, the drum should slip off when pulled by hand. The only feature on the rear brakes that can be troublesome, is the retainer clip for the parking brake lever. You will probably only have to do this job once in your lifetime, so you might as well replace all wear items.
