Interchanging C-4 transmissions
I have a friend with a burnt C 4 transmission , he would like to swap it out with a spare one he has but the transmission cooling lines are smaller he thinks 5/16 as compared to 3/8 on the 62 , 62 birds . I know according to the ford blue book bible 60 , 61 C-4's had one lin5/16 in dia . He thinks the spare transmission is out of a 64 , 65 bird . The only difference is he has to use his linkage bracket arm off his 62 the one on the other is different to be able to use his linkage . Having said that I not that familiar with the flair birds , as to weather it is from one or not . Can anybody assist me this , or put in your two cents . Ian

Do you know what the C-4 transmission is out of. I've been tplde that the C-4 is not big enough, strong enough for the Thunderbird. According to vendors catalog, 1964,1965,1966 FMX cooler lines atre all the same. I think they are 3/8 inches.

That's the big problem the model tag is missing off the transmission . He's not even sure of the condition of the transmission internally but says the fluid ways excellent in colour . I worry about the smaller size transmission cooling line on the transmission .To me I feel he could be doing a lot of hard work and not having the correct transmission not to mention it could be defective .
