1961 Throttle Confusion
Hello new member here, My throttle linkage is a mess, I dont get full motion of throttle or correct movement on trans rod. I was missing the bumper and bracket on back of motor, which I have replaced. The linkage I have does not match pictures in manual or parts catalogs, At the carb end I have an eyelet with a c clip on the linkage rod not a 90 degree bend with a linkage clip.
Nor does my carb have a hole for the 90 degree style rod. I know this is an early car because it has the early brake booster, could I possibly have some square bird parts on it, Any help appreciated. Thanks |

I got to the bottom of my problem, 1961 Bird with A/C has its own carb and rod, the rod is not reproduced and hard to find used. The rod on my car has been repaired and 1.5 inches cut off. I welded the eylet from my old rod to a rod used in all other Birds from 61 to 65. Now I was able to get all the geometry correct for the gas pedal and transmission kick down rod. I have attatched a picture, in the picture the one on the right with the eyelet is the rod I have. If the picture shows up, it did not show in the preview |
