Jerry, you have to make sure your new alternator is a one wire alternator and all you have to do is make sure the mounting brakets line up for the belt, othere wise you will have to rewire your alternator with an external regulator, I just did that to my 62-Bird, hope this helps.

Jerry you will need an early alternator regulater to hook it to. The current idiot light wire will go to the "I" terminal on the regulator. The "F" goes to the "F" on the alternator and the "A" will go to 12V. If your alternator has a "S" terminal it will go to the "S" on the alternator.

Hey Jerry
one thing on the alternator they changed the engine blocks late 1963 for the 64 model ( and again in 65). these blocks had an extra hole drilled and tapped on the passenger side bank to accommodate the alternator |
