It's the metal box on the front wall of the engine compartment one the driver's side.

Is it suppose to be right behind the drivers side headlight?if so I have a mounting plate but no regulator

Yea, mine is a 66 and its behind the driver's side light. I think yours should be too.

If your car has a working battery charging system, you may have a one-wire Ford alternator. Do you have a shop manual?
