'63 Convertible Stuck In Down Position ! !
Hi, I'm new here. I have a 1963 Convertible, white with black top, 130,000 original miles. I love it. This is my second '63 in 25 years.
I removed a melted electrical part with the top down and the trunk lid up. Went to buy the new part and someone put the trunk lid down while I was away. Needless to say, now I cant get it open. Anyone know a trick to getting the trunk lid up while the electrics are disconnected. I'm hoping there is some sort of mechanical backup ??? |

its quite simple actually - there is a nut up under each wheel well directly under where the screw locks are. Undo those and just lift the top up - that will do i for you - should take about 5 mins before you can open it.

Maybe not quite as easy as Johnson suggested. It' a bolt you remove in each rear wheel well, but then you have to contend with the hydraulic cylinders. Two bolt heads can be found on each side under the trunk floor (just in front of the rear bumper). These hold the bottoms of the hydraulic cylinders. Remove these four bolts, lift the deck lid a small amount and reach in from each side and remove the pins that secure the cylinders to the deck lid. If you don't do this, you may break the hoses. Then you can lift the deck lid by hand. Harley Eaton
