draft tube question
Hello, I am new to this forum and have a quick question. I have a 63 t-bird with a draft tube in the intake manifold next to firewall, should this draft tube have a wire mesh filter within the intake, My hook draft tube has the pcv closed system that hooks to spacer plate under carb, but im sure there is no filter. Will this cause damage or excessive oil blow by. Is it a must that i have this filter and if so must the intake come off to install it or can i push this mesh filter through draft tube???
Please help this is my first rebuild and im upset with myself for forgetting about this filter ive heard about! Thanks, Terry |

The 1963 Thunderbird with 390 did not come from Ford with a road draft tube. Are you sure? Starting in 1963, Ford used a Positive Cranfcase Ventalation system. Yes, there should be screen- or filter- inside the intake manifold. It's purpose is to separate out any oil in the crankcase fumes.
