Power Brakes/power steering

I must admit, I don't own a T-bird. I have a 63 &1/2 Galaxie XL fastback with a Z-code 390 & cruiseomatic. I can't find a full size Ford forum, and since the T-bird & Galaxie powertrain is the same, here I am. My brake pedal is very hard for power brakes. I changed the booster & master cylinder out, flushed the lines, installed new shoes, turned the drums, still hard. Checked engine vacuum, mechanic says OK. I replaced the vacuum hose from intake to the booster & got some improvement. They feel like power brakes on light applications, but it seems like too much effort is required when you put your foot into it. The car stops great. Maybe I'm used to the mush and travel on my 63 Impala brakes.

My mechanic replaced the ball & stud on my steering control valve. Now I have high effort on right turns, normal on left. On the road at speed, the car does not want to come back to center on slight left hand steering wheel movements, but comes back OK on right. I followed instructions for centering the valve, the wheels did not turn by themselves off the ground, engine on, but I tweeked the adjustment nut anyway, no change. Any advise on either problem?

Dan
