Post Headers and exhaust update

I'm looking for a cheap and effective way to boost my horsepower. Are headers and dual exhaust the way to go? If so, what do you guys recommend?

Thanks

Okay, nobody is answering me, but I'm thinking I'll go ahead and talk to my local muffler shop and see if they'll fab up a custom dual exhaust system with glasspacks for me, but I'm still unsure about headers. I read that '86-'95 5.0L Mustangs came stock with headers. Should I try to find a set of those? Or is there a better, inexpensive aftermarket setup I could use?

Thanks

The stock mustang headers aren't much better than what you already have due to their crimps in the header pipes. Aftermarket shorty headers and h-pipe are best bet. www.atrperformance.com sells a stainless dual mandrel 2.5" catback for the turbo coupe, which is identical to the stock sport exhaust. They will sell you just the dual tailpipes from the mufflers back for $250 and they will be the right length.

I'm saving up to get aftermarket shorty headers, 2.5 cat h-pipe for mustang, 2.5 in & out mufflers, intermediate 2.5 stainless pipe as needed to connect, and the 2.5 stainless tail pipes from ATR performance. Not cheap, but it is a big improvement over stock and wont need to be replaced. A stock mustang upper intake and throttle body is also a good upgrade to get more air into the engine. You can't do a whole lot without replacing the stock computer or getting a custom chip since it is a speed density system.
