Post 88TC boost problem

Ok I dont know what the hell is wrong with it but, when you get on it in my car it only boost up to like 9-10psi and when it gets around 4,900 -5k rpms its like it almost stops picking up speed and sort of sputters, and wont really pick up speed. And you can hear a noiserom the turbo like a leaking sound blowing from the turbo. Im not sure if its a hole in the line or if the intercooler is coming out of the rubber hoses a little bit and leaking,But if I turn the premium switch off its still slow but doesn't really sputter. Barley pills a wheel. But the engine runs fine idles perfect revs up real good in neutral. If any body knows anything that might help I would greatly appreciate it. THanks keith

Check the intercooler boot/gasket, or whatever you wanna call it. Also, what's the condition of your cat/con? Did you try changing your TFI/PIP? One more thing, is your TC an auto/stick?

Well i just bought the car yesterday. The guy is the original owner has every last damn record on it had the oil changed every 3k miles timing belt at 6k and every thing. I mean it has the original pain and it still shins. Aint no cracks in the dash. Inside looks drand new and the out. I mean it almost look like it come off the show room floor. Its been in the garage the hole time. It only has 105k miles. But its a stick. I don't think he had the PIP or TFI changed. But other than that prob it runs smooth but i dont think he's had any thing done to the ehaust neither. I got a high flow cat im going to put on there off my old one. I was going to check aroound the intercooler but it was night time by the time i got it so i was going to ait till today, but i thought I might get some insight or suggestions first on what might be the prob. So let me know something please cause this car is just to nice for there to be something wrong with it :(

If you want to check your exhaust, disconnect it at the downpipe. Then drive it and see what happens at 5000 rpm. If it works, then it's somewhere in your exhaust, and most likely your cat. As for the boost, I'm not sure why it's stopping at 10psi, unless the exhaust can have an effect on it, which could possibly be. Also, do as you said and replace the TFI and PIP sensor and do a complete MOTORCRAFT tune-up on it.

Ok i took the intercooler off and looked at the hoses to make sure there wasnt no crackk. they hooked everythihng back up. I unpluged the 2 hoses that go to the boost sensor thing on the fenderand pkuged them together to get more boost like i herd. Well it worked. I get like 18psi now but when you get to like 4,900 or 5,000rpms it starts slowing down alot. But it stoped sputtering after i did that stuff to it but its still slow even thought it boost up to 18. And it still sounds like there's something leaking like a blowing sound from the turbo. NOt the reguler sound that a turbo makes though. I dont know im going to try and replace the TFI and if that doesnt work ium going to replace the hole distibuter with the PIP to try and see if I get the power back. I just dont know the damn thing some times it will be idling and it will just start to idle at like 3,000 rpms by it self. I might want to try the TPS too. But thanks for the suggestions guys :)

As far as the idle going to 3000 by itself, that does sound like a TPS problem.
