Post Another ? about stereo installs!

Does anyone have expertise in stalling new stereo equipment in a 88TC? I've looked at the schematics in the Ford manual and it's a little confusing. Seems as if they tie all the negatives together on the speakers. I recently put a stereo in a 86 F150 and had to cut the ground interconnects in one of the plugs behind the glovebox but I didn't take the glovebox out of the TC yet. Any info would be great. Thanks again!

It depends of how much you want to do. The best sound would be from an external amplifier. On my Golf I put in new cables all the way - the Thunderbirds will be next (the same way)
The factory ones in the T-Birds are pretty thin and their resistances are too weird to work with. If I remember correctly, they are not the same for all the speakers - and the ohms are not 4 or 8 but something in between!

Thanks! I guess I'll just have to run the new wires after all. I had read on another forum that they used the existing wiring and that you could buy a bypass plug for the amp and the equalizer I believe. I just know that on a lot of the older fords they run a common ground for the speakers which looks like this is what they did on the 88. What I had done before was cut the ties to the negatives on the one plug to seperate them on the F150. It worked well. Plus install new speakers! I was just trying to do something quick until it gets warm out to really mess with something like that. My garage is full of other cars that I just can't move them out. Thanks!
