Post 87 Tubo CoupeCooling fans problem

Anyone have problems with cooling fans not turning on.
now have them hardwired but guage still eratic - have changed vri and am doing upgrade on it tomorrow - was tested a month or so ago and wsa working properly - i m a walking murphy s law so this doesn t surprise me - have changed temp sensor and sending unit had instrument cluster and guage torn apart and still the same problem. I have been trying to locate the cooling fan control module - info tells me it s under the instrument cluster to the left of steering column, but still can t locate.

The control module is the IRCM which is located under the hood on the passenger side by the shock tower. It is the big black box. It controls the fans, fuel pump power, and something else too (can't remember what right off hand). Sounds like that is the culprit. If you hear noises coming from the box with KOEO then it is definately bad and could cause a fire. They are about $100 or so from Ford.

There is also the ECT that can go bad. It is located in between the #2 and #2 fuel injectors on the lower intake. Those often go bad.
