Read Window seal replacement

I am talking about the rear window above the trunk. There is a rubber seal around the edge of the glass. Do I have to remove the glass in order to install the seal?

is this the metal trim or the rubber trim? the rubber trim pops out quite easily just gently pry it up.

The one on the car is rubber trim that fits into a metal piece of the same shape. The replacement appears to be a plastic piece with the rubber trim installed into it. Can I remove the rubber part from the plastic piece?
