Newbie needs Hard Top Help
I have a 2004 Thunderbird with both a hard top and soft top. I am trying to put on the hard top and the owner's manual calls for a "Ford approved" tape to go between hte body and the top. I assume this is to protect the finish of hte body from being scratched by the top. The ford dealer wants $180 +/- for this tape! Is anyone aware of a more reasonable alternative?

Google the 2002/5 Bird and look for the Forum that deals with the new Birds. Bunch of great folks that can answer that question for you.

Not really sure of alternative. Wife's car and she bought some from dealer. Got the screws on that one. What I will tell you, is that we have gone without for several years and have had not any problems at all. Her's is a daily driver and sits out side a lot, here in VA. If act when replacing this, I always had to clean the residue off. I also think it detracted from the cars looks when top was down.
