Rear Defrost help

WIfe took the bird in for service. Asked if they could check out the rear defroster on the hard top. We just put it on a few weeks ago. We never had a problem with the defrost on soft top, nor have we had a problem with the hard top over the last 7 years.

Dealership comes back with $1200 to repair. This thing needs a control module. I went to go look and the tech said that the control module senses that the soft top is down and that the voltage for the defrost is switched to the hard top connection. Something is wrong with a $675 module. This guy has the whole damn car apart to find the problem.

So anyone out there have the skinny on this problem?

Thanks 2003 Tbird
