My dad & I are rebuilding a 65 landau special, but the engine seems to be out of place. We thought it was a 390, because the carb & intake manifold say 390 (on the ID tags) but the block & heads are 352. Everything seems original. We tried to put an Edelbrock manifold on but it won't match up to the heads, even though the manifold should fit FE engines (right). Anybody got any ideas as to what's going on?

If it's not a 390, then I think it's safe to say that someone has swapped motors in the past. Maybe 20 years or more ago. What are the casting #'s on the heads (between the center exhaust ports) and on the block (passenger side). I have a book that will break down all the casting #'s. [email protected]

Ahh, don't worry about it. We talked to some people and concluded it's just a 390 with bum serial numbers. Pretty strange though. Comparing them side to side with others the heads and carbn are identical to 390 spec. Just messed up numbers I guess. Thanks for the help anyway.

Don't worry about the 352 on the front of the block. To the best of my knowledge, all fe blocks have that embossed "352" on the left front side of the engine block. Its part of the rough casting.I've owned a few 390s and 428s and they've all had it.
