I'm getting ready to restore my windshield.

Is there any tips for making sure the glass is scratch free? I'm not talking about deep scratches, but just the normal 50 year wear and tear?

For instance, is it worth buffing? And with what material, and what kind of solution, other than water?

Eastwood makes a windshield polishing kit that includes the powder, buffing pad and attachment for a drill or other electric polisher. It works well if you follow procedures. If you have a buffer, etc., go to an optical supply house and get cerium oxide powder. That's the material that is used to polish lenses and what is most likely in Eastwood's kit.

I did buy the Eastwood kit a few weeks ago - haven't tried it yet, but plan to.
