I am replacing the windlace in my 56 bird and do not know what, if any, tack strip there is for the strip for the front of the door behind the kick panel. How is the kick panel holder held on? Any help in this area would be appreciated. Where can i find some pictures of this?

There is no tack strip for the forward wind lace. It is retained by small stamped metal tabs in the body and one drive nail.
NOTE: The previous paragraph was edited to agree with page 7-3133 of the 1957 Trim & Sealer Manual. (so much for trusting the 'ol memory)

It is very difficult to describe the mounting procedure for the cowl upholstery retainer. But---- I'll give it a shot: The white metal upholstery retainer is held to the body with only one screw and a combination of metal tabs slipping into slots on the body and vice versa. Very little tab bending is required because stuff pretty much slides together if properly disassembed. This item should be installed after the wind lace. If you sit there long enough studying the attachment method, it finally becomes obvious. It reminds me of putting together a doll house or kid's toy on Christmas Eve. You know the drill; tab A into slot A, tab B into slot B etc etc.

There is a Trim & Sealer Manual available to CTCI members that probably addresses this. Check out: www.ctci.org
