Ditto-quickest way to find out how weak the internals are on a NA3.8L is install a superharger.
That goes for the V8s too-that's how I ended up with a Bell Blowzilla/Flowzilla setup for my 93 5.0L. The kid that owned it installed the huffer on a 5.0L with no internal prep and a motor that had gathered 275k HARD miles-he ran his first 1/4 mile with the huffer set up for 20 psi, and promptly scattered the bottom end within the first 60 feet. Track officials were a little mad at him-the crank broke and one section embedded itself in the asphalt-they had to close the track for 2 hours while they dug the crank out and patched the hole.
