water pump replacement

I'm trying to replace the water pump on a 95 4.6L V8 Thunderbird. the Haynes manual is very vague on removing the pump, so i was wondering (since i can't search the forum for some odd reason) if anyone knew if there's more to do than just removing the 4 bolts on the pump.
Also, I'm trying to drain the coolant system, and I cant find vent plug anywhere, and where do i drain the coolant? and how important is this step when replacing a water pump?

well considering no one responds to posts around here, I just went ahead and pried the damn thing out w/o draining the coolant, lucky it was pretty much already draing because it took about 4 gallons to fill it up after i replaced the pump, but if someone could still point out to me where the drains are to drain the coolant fluid i would greatly appreciate it.
