My '57 came with a bunch of original (used) parts - fuel pump, distributor, ignition, taillight lenses, door handles, window cranks, etc, plus a number of NOS small replacement parts, screw kits, etc from FoMoCo that are from circa 1980, when the car was restored. I've also got a set of chrome rocker covers - the ones with the Thunderbird V8 decals, not the finned aluminum kind.

My car is a driver, and I don't think I'll ever use any of these parts in the future. Do these parts have any value (could they be sold successfully on eBay?) - or are they not really worth much, since Little Birds are so well supported by parts vendors like CASCO, etc?

Thanks,
G-Money

Tough question. You're correct in stating that the value of many items is diminished by the high quality of the reprodution parts. This is particularly true for the trim items you identified. The chrome valve covers are also common swap meet material that have little value to a T-Bird owner because they were never used on anything and are a novelty item.

Some of the other items you identified may have some potential value if they are production parts rather than service items or after market manufacturer. Your audience for these items will be very small. Only the miniscule percentage of owners who are authenticity buffs would have any interest.

If you want to determine the potential value of your spares, contact me via E-Mail (photos helpful), or we can go through a series of questions and answers here on the Forum.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to snap some pictures next weekend and email those to you.

Tom,

I've got a few photos of the parts - air cleaner base and chrome cover, fuel pump, ignition parts, chrome valve covers, and what I'm guessing is part of a vintage alarm system.

Send me a private message if you like with your email address, and I'll send the photos along.

Thanks,
Gary
