I have a 97 T-bird with a 4.6 V8. I may be just looking for a fun way to die here but I REALLY want to cram a 460 big block under the hood. If anyone has ever seen this done or has any info or tips please tell me so I can make my chicken a monster.

a friend of mine is doing it right now.he completly removed the front clip and suspension, made a tube frame .was able to re-use some suspension.basically only the struts are left.lots of work.not for a newwbie

not trying to say your buddy's wrong, his is probably the safest way, but according to the dimensions on the Ford Racing crate motor, the only size differences between a 4.6 and a 460 is that the big block is 4 inches longer, and will be slightly taller depending on what air cleaner you use. This sounds to me like it will take little more than a slight firewall reshaping, some motor mounts, and maybe a cowl hood. I could be wrong though I still have a bit more measuring to do. BTW, right now I'm only trying to see if the motor will fit at all. Once that is established then I'll start planning out electrical and drivetrain.

yes,i mentioned what was happening to another buddy and he said you can buy motor mounts.but the guy diong the whole tube thing has done it before, maybe trying to make extra cash.the 460 he is putting in is about 650 hp.good luck with your project!
