Hi All Type A is the recommended Transmission and Power Steering fluid for our early Birds and Fords products of the 50's
What replaced Type A?
Type F?
Dextron?

Ed, Just talked to Casco and they said they use DextronIII. I will still use F in the tranny. Casco said they have had no problems with the Dextron so I guess I will leave it in there.

I got a recommendation from Hill's Automotive to use Napa " F/A" or "F" so I'll stick with that!

FYI Went bad today The Ram is (was) leaking at the seam at the end near the seal so it looked like the seal was the problem. Going to look for someone who might weld a new bead along the seam, or else buy a new one.

Ed, My advise for what it's worth, don't waste your $$$ on the old one, you may fix one thing but all the parts inside are probably on their way out too. I tried to fix mine with new seals in the shaft end and sealer etc. It was still a piece of junk. A new one will last many years and no more tears.
