Starts and dies.

Have an 87 with the 3.8. Sometimes car starts and runs fine other times will start and die. When key is turned you can hear the pump relay click and pump energize then car starts and quits. If key is held in place between start and run positions the pump keeps power and car stays running and starter disengages like it should but as soon as key released it dies. :banghead

if you hit the gas after it is started, does it stay running or does it still stall? Have you tried to change the fuel filter. maybe it is clogged (very unlikely)? It could be an idle air control valve, maybe the fuel pressure regulator. i would check the fuel filter first since it is the cheapest, but probably the least likely.

Although i had a similar issue on a firebird, that issue was an intake manifold had gasket blown out. It would idle terribly rough then stall. That one took a really long time to figure out since there was no CEL
