Hello Thunderbird Masters.
For about a year now I have been trying to sort out many problems with my sons 65 bird. This site has help answer many questions.

MASTER CYLINDER : The car has a master with a screw on top. As I look up parts I find clip top style was for disc brakes. Do I have the wrong master cylinder? Should I just replace the master with a dual cylinder?

BRAKE BOOSTER: The car has crimpted brake booster. Is there a difference in the crimped vs. the banded type. Is one better than the other or shorter if I consider a dual master?

FRONT PARKING LAMPS: Are the front parking lights supposed to stay on with the headlights?

CARBURATOR: I have replaced the stock carb with an Edelbrock. The car starts alot easier and seems to have more power. Can the heated carb spacer be removed or replaced with a non-heated spacer?

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!

I beleive that I can answer two of your questions

The front parking lamps are supposed to turn off when the headlights turn on.

The Carb spacer is actually designed to keep the carb cooler not warmer, coolant runs through it to cool the spacer just as it cools the engine. In 66 it was replaced with a phenolic spacer which does not have coolant lines just a special material I guess.

Hope this help helps.

I'm sure the car is a 65. It has 64 front fenders ( no feathers ) and 64 delux hub caps. The car does have front disc brakes. Vin # 5Y83Z144236

Still trying to sort out how many things may have been modified.

master cylinder

I think you have the wrong master cylinder.
The 64 cyliner had a 7/8 bore
the 65-66 had a 15/16 inch bore.
If I were you I would get the right master and booster.
Going to a dual system is quite complex, the original does a good job.

Can the headlight switch be serviced to correct parking lamp issue?

I have purchased the correct master cylinder for a 65. It is much larger the one currently installed.
Joe has made the comment regarding getting the right brake booster. Is the crimped style also wrong for a 65? Should I have the banded style booster?
