small hose inquiry

You know that short piece of hose from the water pump to the intake manifold? It's a real pain in the arse, and I was just wondering if any of you have any tricks to share about installing it with the manifold, or preferable after.

I know it's a longshot, but I thought I would ask.

Cut it shorter than original, silicone the heckout of it and slide it on as far as possible then work it back over the other end

Smear the inside of it with KY jelly ( no kidding!), it has worked with me.
Or use car-polish but it's not as good.

I followed both of your suggestions and it worked great! I cut a little bit shorter length of hose, lubed it up with vaseline, and it just slipped into place while installing the manifold.
