I've got an '87 with the 3.8L V6. It is a good little motor but has 175,000 miles on it and will soon need a rebuild.
I would like to have more power and am curious about the build up potential of the V6. I think it has about 120 hp and 250 ftlbs in stock trim.

Is the bottem end/rods strong?
Are the aluminum heads any good?
Is a blower available for the V6?
Could the V6 stand up to twin turbos?

Is the V6 worth rebuilding and working with or should I chuck it and get a 5.0L as a starting point?

I'm glad I found this board and look forward to sharing my build up with all of you.

thanks...

Please don't make the same mistake i did it'll cost over a 1000 for a basic rebuild and thats if you do labor yourself you can out a 5.0 rebuilt with a big cam for about the same and you will get all the power you need. My tbird is an 86 and i rebuilt the engine at 168000 she still has no power and never will unless i out 2 much money in it part that engine out or sell it or something and get you a 5.0 or bigger;-)
