Thanks for the answers on the lights and heater problems.

The engine in my 65 is Blue (air cleaner, valve covers, etc.). According to the specs. I saw on another sight they should be gold. Does this mean the motor is not original? How can I check the block numbers?

The motor is not necessarily a different engine. Most people are under the impression that all Ford engines have always been painted blue. Your engine should have been gold, but someone may have previously rebuilt it and painted it blue, thinking that was the correct color, also thinking gold was incorrect. There are alot of people who don't know that Ford painted their engines gold and red in previous years.

I know positively that '64 they were painted gold, and I'm almost totally positive they were gold in '65, too. I'd go ahead and check the tag Joe was talking about, though. Also, check the casting numbers on the engine and see what they say. If they aren't the right casting numbers, then you'll know for sure if the years don't match up.

Everything I've seen tells me they were gold in 64, black in 65, and blue in 66. As far as I know Ford didn't use red on the 64's, 65's or the 66's.

My information according to the Vintage Thunderbird Club International rule book is that the 1964 engine should be black with argent valve covers and air cleaner. From another source, engines painted gold were produced in Canada.

That's wierd. I've never seen a '64 with a black engine. Also, my grandfather's '64 has a gold engine, and it's all original. Wait 'til I tell him it's a Canadian car! :)Learn something new every day.
