Hey guys I have a question. My friend is pretty much convinced that his car is faster than mine. He has a '96 nissan maxima which is a 3 L V6. It is a lot lighter than my car. I have the 4.6L V8. I do have a much bigger engine but his car is a lot lighter than mine. Any thoughts?? I just want to know before I race him. Thanks

Well I lost, but his car isnt quite stock. He has a y-pipe which he said adds 12 whp, a b-pipe which adds 3whp an intake which he said doesnt add any hp just helps in lower rpms. He also has a rear anti sway bar and a front strut bar. He killed me off the line and I wasnt able to catch him. We are both autos by the way and im all stock.

Atleast you lost in style. Check back in 15 years and see whos car is still here

dont get caught up in advertised hp gains. the addition of a y pipe to that car would do very littler if anythng at all. you're looking at two very stock cars going at it. and the nissian v6 makes just as much if not more power. Torque will be on ur side, but when the stock 4.6 falls on its face starting around the 4k mark the nissian is going to continue to build its power.

that nissian motor is a pretty stout motor in both power and longetivity, but once the mod bug bites, and the racing starts, no car lasts 15 years with the same parts. thats the nature of the beast.

atta way to race him though. most people would just wine and stay on the fact that he was "modded".

if you wanna beat him as he is now, gears and a torque convertor would shave off a nice 1/4-1/2 second off ur et's.
