It really is quite straightforward. A few years ago I pulled my engine just far enough to break the auto tranny free far enough to replace a noisy flexplate. To gain the room necessary, disconnect the exhaust pipes from the headers, disconnect the engine stabilizer links on both sides of the engine, disconnect the tranny mounts and the engine mount, remove the radiator top shroud and you should be good to go. Be careful to watch the fan so that it doesn't come too far forward and into your rad as you raise and pull the engine and tranny slightly forward. Good Luck!
