Hello.

I'm looking at a Thunderbird. Car in question is a 1995 LX 4.6 40th Anniversary car. It is in stupidly clean condish, and has 173k miles. Car belongs to a friend. I know that she has kept up with oil changes, and has had the trans fluid and filter changed. She takes pretty good care of it, for the most part.
I've not inspected the car closely yet, I'm just going on what she's told me and what I've seen by standing next to it.

Problems:
1. Check Engine Light is on. I believe that this is related to problem 2. Either related to the rough running, or maybe bad 02 sensors?

2. Car idles roughly and apparently stutters and chugs along under power. To me, it sounds like a cylinder isn't firing. I've heard that the 4.6 is quite sensitive to plugs and ignition problems.
What does this sound like? I'd probably replace the 2 coils and the wires and plugs right when I got it. I was poking around with the search feature, and I saw that some other people had MAF issues? Sound likely? Any other ideas? 02 sensors?

I appreciate any help! I do really like the car, and would like to own it! As for me, I'm Andy, I'm a college student from southeast Wisconsin, and I currently own a 1986 Volvo 240 wagon (don't laugh) and a mildly modded 1981 Datsun.

This sounds lke a noce car but rather than quess whats wrong you need to read the error codes to determine at least the start of what the problem can be. This can be done for free at a store like AutoZone. Let us know what you find out.

sincerely

1995 Lx

Andy,
I own a 1995 LX with the 4.6L and I thinking about selling it. If you don't mine me asking, how much is your friend asking for hers? If you don't want to say I understand.
